We are a small family – Filipa, Filipe, and our beloved Cavaliers – living in Aveiro, Portugal 🇵🇹

I, Filipa, am a veterinarian, graduated in 2019 from ICBAS at the University of Porto, and I’ve been a dog breeder for as long as I can remember (my love for breeding runs in the family!). My thesis was, of course, focused on canine reproduction, one of my greatest passions throughout my studies. I also strongly believe in preventive veterinary medicine, where holistic and traditional approaches complement each other.

After completing my master's degree, I pursued several postgraduate courses, mainly in canine nutrition (learning from experts like Sylvia Angelico DVM, Neus Candela DVM, Vincenzo de Ioanni DVM, Dana Scott, Patricia Jordan DVM, Nick Thompson DVM, and Rodney Habib). I truly enjoy taking part in workshops on canine behavior and reproduction—two fields that fascinate me the most in veterinary medicine! My learning never stops, and I discover something new every day.

Filipe is a human physiotherapist but has been deepening his knowledge in animal physiotherapy. He is also currently taking a grooming course with Daniela Duarte at Daniarte, which makes him the official bath specialist in our home (and let’s just say, there are a lot of baths 🤣).

​

Our love for this wonderful breed began in 2012, the year we created our kennel name (affix), Edel Plass. It means “noble home” in Norwegian, a tribute to our connection with that country and to the fact that our home feels more noble with these little ones in it.

Our dogs are family members. We don’t have kennels—they live with us, inside our home, as part of our daily lives.

Our main goal is to breed healthy dogs with the balanced temperament and signature beauty of the breed. We take a responsible and carefully planned approach to breeding.

That’s why all our breeding dogs are:

🫀 Health-tested for the breed’s main conditions. This is our absolute priority. We spend countless hours studying pedigrees and selecting the healthiest bloodlines.

⚖️ True to the Cavalier temperament. We breed gentle, loving, calm, intelligent dogs with wonderful therapy potential.

​

🐶 Conforming to the breed standard. We select bloodlines from all over the world, always maintaining the noble and well-balanced look we love: large, round, expressive eyes, well-proportioned coat (without exaggeration), correct structure, and elegant, agile movement. We’re not obsessed with show results, but we do enjoy attending occasionally!

We breed Cavaliers for companionship, therapy (for children, the elderly, and individuals with special needs), and for show/breeding. But above all, we breed with love. ❤️
